Audited Supplier Sea-island fiber is a kind of composite fiber which is formed by making dispersed phase polymer uniformly embedded in continuous phase polymer. The dispersible phase polymer is distributed discontinuously along the fiber, which is called matrix microfiber type. The rod dispersed is called dispersed type and lotus root core type. Two phases with the same polymer composition of different properties called two-component sea-island fiber.
Fiber has many unique properties, such as hygroscopicity, antistatic property, temperature sensitivity and light sensitivity to discoloration, dyeing, flame resistance and so on. The two kinds of polymers are fused separately or mixed, and the island phase is deformed by high tensile and shear deformation in the spinning process. The resulting composite fiber could also become a high shrinkage fiber with good physical properties through reasonable tensile and heat treatment.
